What You Need

• Clean, dry hands and a clean, flat surface or silicone mat

• A little unscented hand lotion, in case it needs softening
• Paper towel or a soft cloth

Step by Step: Your First 5 Minutes With Any Slime

1. Bring it to room temperature. If the parcel has been somewhere cold, leave the sealed pot indoors for 30 minutes. If it's warm from the sun, let it cool for 10 minutes somewhere shady.
2. Wash and dry your hands. Natural oils and dust affect texture, especially with clear slime.
3. Prep your surface. Use a clean table or silicone mat, away from fabric and carpets.
4. Open slowly. Peel the lid back gently so charms and mix-ins stay in place.
5. Wake it up. Fold and knead for 30 to 60 seconds. Most stickiness or stiffness from the journey settles once the slime warms up in your hands.

7. Play. Slow stretches give drizzles, quick pulls give bubble pops, and pressing and folding gives soft sizzles.
8. Rest and store. Tuck in the edges, press out trapped air and seal the pot.

Cold weather makes slime feel firmer, and warm weather makes it tackier. Always let it reach room temperature before you decide it needs fixing.

Fixing the Texture

Start with the gentlest fix, knead well, then check again. It's much easier to add a little more than to undo too much.

• Too sticky: knead for another minute, then let it rest in its sealed pot for a few hours, as warmth and lots of play loosen slime. If it's still sticky, use the sticky fix pen that comes with our slimes: dab a small amount on the sticky area, knead for about a minute, and repeat only if it's still sticky. Wash your hands afterwards, and adults should help children under 8. Never use homemade activator, borax, contact lens solution or household chemicals on shop slime.
• Too stiff: knead with slightly damp hands, or rub a small amount of hand lotion into your palms and work it in. Skip lotion with clear slime, as it can go cloudy.
• Melty after a warm journey: put the sealed pot somewhere cool for 10 minutes, then knead.
• Beads or charms falling out: fold gently rather than pulling, and press loose pieces back in.

• Bubble pops: press the slime flat, fold it to trap air, then press and pull quickly. Thick, glossy slimes are best for this.
• Drizzles: stretch slowly from high to low in one long ribbon. Cloud slime is lovely for drizzles.
• Sizzles: flatten a butter slime into a pancake, then fold it over again and again for a soft, crackly sound.
• Crunch: with bead slimes, fold rather than rip, then press with your fingertips.

Butter slime

• Warm it in your hands before stretching. If it stiffens, knead with slightly damp hands or a little lotion.
• Always seal the pot, as clay-based slimes can dry out a little faster.

• Thick and glossy slime holds its shine best when it's kept airtight and out of direct sun. If it tightens up, knead in a little lotion or water.
• It's the best texture for bubble pops and pokes.

Clear and jelly slime

• Keep surfaces dust-free, as specks show easily.
• Avoid lotion, which can make it cloudy.
• Rest it sealed for 1 to 3 days to bring back the glassy look.

Crunchy and bead slime

• Fold, don't yank. Gentle folding keeps the beads in.

Cleaning Up Without Stress

• Hard surfaces: dab stray bits with a larger piece of slime to lift them, then wipe with a damp cloth.
• Clothes and fabric: let any slime dry, scrape off what you can, then dab with 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts warm water. Rinse and wash as normal. Test on a hidden area first.
• Hair: work a little conditioner through the area, comb gently, then shampoo.

Storage and Shelf Life

• Store slime sealed in its pot at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sunlight.
• Slime slowly changes over time, which is normal for handmade slime. With good care, our slimes typically last 2 to 4 weeks.
• Bin slime that smells unpleasant, changes colour or shows any mould.
